The SQOE Standard
SQOE traces its name back to a Spanish guitar-making lineage - the Esquivel family, who by SQOE's own account have handcrafted guitars since 1883 - and builds its identity today around the backronym "Sound Quality Over Experience." Guitars sold under the SQOE name are manufactured in China, with a catalog spanning classical, folk, dreadnought, and electric models built for beginner-to-intermediate players who want real tone without a premium price tag. The SEIB500 sits in the middle of SQOE's IB series of Super Strat electrics, which runs from the SEIB370 up to the SEIB998 custom models.
Engineered With Purpose
Alnico V Humbuckers With A Coil-Split Switch
SQOE Alnico V humbuckers sit in the neck and bridge positions for full, punchy rock and metal tones. A 3-way toggle picks neck, both or bridge, and a mini coil-split switch turns the humbuckers into single-coils for brighter, glassier cleans. The control cavity is coated with graphite conductive shielding paint to keep hum and noise down.
Roasted Maple Neck, Rosewood Fretboard
The bolt-on neck is Canadian roasted maple with a Modern C profile, and on the Chameleon its back is finished in the same colour-shift paint as the body. It carries an Indian rosewood fretboard with abalone dot inlays, a 305mm (12") radius, 24 medium jumbo frets in high anti-oxidation nickel-silver and a 42mm bone nut.
SQOE 2-Point Tremolo
A zinc-alloy SQOE 2-point tremolo pivots on two studs for smooth vibrato and dives, and returns to pitch more reliably than a vintage 6-screw design. The tremolo arm is in the box, and chrome sealed die-cast tuners hold tuning at the headstock.
Matte Chameleon Colour-Shift Finish
SQOE's Chameleon series finish is a matte colour-shift paint that reads blue, violet or teal depending on the light and the angle you see it from. It covers the poplar body, the back of the neck and the headstock face, and the satin-smooth matte surface feels different under the hand from a gloss guitar.
